The radio station is welcoming new listeners every day with fantastic feedback. Our radio competitions (read on) have had a brilliant response and we’ve welcomed the hundreds of telephone calls from the North of the Island- thanks to you all- as well as the entire Island and ‘off-shore’ correspondence via text and e-mail.
The Joe Cocker gig on the 10th July in La Laguna has given us a
tremendous buzz. We didn’t realize how many of you appreciate the chance
of seeing the legend for FREE! Fresh fm and TNT magazines had the
pleasure of giving TWENTY FREE prime location tickets plus transport (Worth
50€ each) to the gig by entering our competitions in June (See our
websites for the winners) July’s competition is for a ‘state of the art’
DVD, video, compact disc and MP3 player!
We welcome an additional pair of established radio presenters to Fresh
fm. June saw the arrival of Andy Fullabull (Bob Preston & Chris Merrick
vaguely remember him!) presenting the Weekend Breakfast Show courtesy of
the Railway Tavern & The Oyster Catcher and also Dave ‘Woody’ Woods is
doing his ‘bit’ on Sundays 11-2pm. Thank you guys for ‘moving in the
right direction’
The Fresh fm café, next to the radio station, now has internet
facilities, so we welcome you all to ‘Chat’ personally or on line at our
venue... Have a coffee or tea and cake, beer or champagne, check your
mail and see the radio station in comfort. The Fresh fm Internet Café
Service in association with Direct Telecom & Ezcom is open every day
except Sunday from 10am until 7pm. Rates are 2€ for 30minutes or 3€ for
an hour. Discount rates are available for members. See you there!
We’ve introduced a Saturday ‘3 hour South Tenerife Walk’ leaving the
Fresh fm Café at 09.30 after an initial coffee, tea or soft drink and
returning for even more refreshments afterwards including a sumptuous
slice of cake and all for just 10€! A guide is included on the varied
walks, so make this a date. Call 922 733 763 or 922 733 054 for more
info.
Our team has ‘got into darts’. Every Sunday, four venues in the South
are being promoted ‘live on air’. Listen between 6-7pm on Fresh fm and
join in the fun. If you’re into darts or want to be a member of a team,
call us and we’ll put your name forward. See the TNT magazines or our
websites for more information.
Augustinas Cabaret Bar invited us over to Fanabe for a great day on
Sunday 17th June. The ‘Hot Dogs and Cool Cats Show’ was invaded by the
usual ‘Stray Cat and Rockweiler’, but besides that it was a brilliant
afternoon. By the way, check out Augustinas Sunday roast; it’s a must!
The end of the month (30th June) saw the ‘Live Arico’ fundraising event
at the Horse Riding Centre in Buzanada. It kicked off at 4pm with show
jumping competitions, civil protection dog shows and a fun dog show (which
was hilarious!) and was all for a good cause. Bob Preston on ‘the mike’
behaved himself and was awarded a ‘good boy treat’ which he richly
deserved. Thanks to the girls as well for ‘keeping him on the leash’!
We were due to do a charity outside broadcast at the Blaydon Races on
15th June but unfortunately Rick Gothard (Rickster) was in hospital. It
was by HIS wishes that he wanted to be involved in this event, so we at
Fresh fm postponed the event awaiting his return. We have since learned
that Rickster may be out of action for some time. If anyone needs to
send him a message, mail him at the radio station on djreshfmradio.com
and we will pass it on.
Fresh fm are only too pleased to help charity events providing it is a
registered charity with a confirmed charity number, so contact us if
need be.
A Government decision regarding the Ministerio de Telecomunicaciones
ordered all transmitters from Guaza Mountain to be removed (with the
exception of Onda Cero & Radio Nacional). Please be aware that Fresh fm
does not use this ‘no-go site’ and other radio stations may have to face
a hefty fine AND move or close down.
That’s it for now... Have a Great July!
