Chris Merrick
Apart from a veritable river of jokes, japes and one liners,, Chris Merrick has music running through his veins.“My father was a bass player, I am a bass player, as is one of my sons, Simon”. Chris tells me that Simon has his own web site, www.simonmerrick.co.uk from where he sells musical transcripts to other bass players.
Chris's musical career began at the age of eleven when he put his first band together with some school friends. When he left school Chris toured around the world with several bands and also began a career as a session musician playing on many well known songs, plus several not so well known ones!
Chris made the move to Tenerife in the early Nineties, initially working for a local newspaper before moving into a presenters spot on an English speaking radio station in 1997. Looking for a new challenge, he made the move to Fresh fm in October 2006.
As well as broadcasting to the population of the Tenerife and beyond, Chris is also kept busy by his family and running his own web site, www.readyprepradio.com where like-minded presenters can research events, past and present, to include on their own shows.
If that wasn't enough, Chris still finds time for the occasional dabble with oil paints and takes his loyal retriever, Boozah for long walks on the local beaches.
