Bob PrestonOnce billed as ‘a lighthouse in the desert’ (brilliant, but useless).A brief résumé: Its almost impossible to be employed at a radio station without having experience…. rubbish! Don’t believe it, us old pros know there’s plenty of fresh young talent just around the corner, so if you can do it, don’t give up trying and remember, the only person who won’t give you a chance is the one who feels most threatened. My own radio experience started around 1981 in Sharja (U.A.E.) when voice-overs were a good way to get yourself recognized vocally and also to earn a bit of extra cash. Then I made a demo tape for my own benefit which took me onto a ‘radio rock pile’ still active 20 years down the line. Then another big but patchy station for about 5 years, a few years on other media stations and now here on Fresh FM which I think just could make me the longest surviving English presenter on air in the Canary Islands. No looking back, only forward. But I would like to say a big thank you to Naughty Morty AKA Chrissie Dee (My other half) for all the behind the scenes work over the last 7 - 8 years which has been invaluable. Now tune into Fresh FM... and enjoy !
